Government Likely to hike GST on Cosmetics to Compensate for the Loss from ‘Ladli Behna Yojana’
After winning elections in many states by giving women free money under the ‘Ladli Behna Yojana’, the ruling party BJP has decided to increase taxes on makeup products to compensate for the losses caused by it and avoid following the path of bankruptcy like Congress and AAP ruled states. Speaking to The Fauxy, Nirmala Sitharaman said, “Just like I don’t eat onions, I also don’t use makeup, so the price hike doesn’t concern me.” Surprisingly, women have welcomed this decision, as it will finally allow them to brag in their social circles about how expensive their makeup products are.
