In a shocking incident, an RTI activist has filed an RTI to find out what’s underneath Qutub Minar. Claiming that it’s his right to information about historical monuments which he studied in school and college, the man has sought RTI reply within 30 days. The Government is under obligation to provide the man Right Information.
Reportedly, 12 JCBs have reached Qutub Minar where excavation will be carried out to know what’s underneath the structure. However, the government is worried that if nothing is found underneath the structure then it will be a tough task to re-mount the structure.
Many muslim leaders have opposed the RTI and have asked the Supreme Court to quash the RTI as it may lead more people to file RTIs to find what’s underneath the Mughals’ constructed structure. “This is done to spark communal tension in the country we all know what’s underneath the mughals’ structure but we should let bygones be byogones” said a Muslim leader.
