Tanishq reposts its controversial ad with the disclaimer “Stunts are performed by trained professionals, don’t try this at home”.

Tata Group’s jewellery brand Tanishq, launched its latest commercial with a narrative around interfaith marriage. A minute long video shows a Hindu woman, married into a Muslim family, all set for her baby shower. She is assisted by her Muslim mother-in-law for catching sight of the arrangements being done for her baby shower. However, following the outrage, the brand deleted its video but only to repost it with the disclaimer.

Millions of people outraged saying the ad is far from reality and is targeting only one religion in the garb of showing secularism. Tanishq in its second edition of the video added the disclaimer “Stunts are performed by trained professionals, don’t try this at home”.

Speaking to The Fauxy, Manager of Agarwal Jewellers said “secularism is for rich who don’t know the ground reality and Tanishq is a brand for rich people hence their ad is targeted to these rich people, but since many poor people have seen the ad they’re outraging. Good that Tanishq has added the disclaimer to pacify the cattle class”.
