The alleged non-partisan association of editorial leaders in India, headed by Shekhar Gupta, namely the Editors Guild, mistakenly appeared in the Olx website(Ad link), an online marketplace platform for buying and selling goods & services. The ad of Editors Guild on Olx featured the selling price of various journalists with the starting price beginning as low as ₹2. The ad had an of making an online payment and also allowed cash on delivery.
Hours later, Editors Guild of India issued a statement saying that online bidding for journalists has become a favourite activity of users. The statement further said that one has to always quote a price higher than the bidding amount, since in almost all cases the base price is already quoted by Congress, to which a majority of journalists are already sold.
In a recent interview of PM Modi by ANI chief, Smita Prakash posed some really tough questions to PM Modi which were answered with equal grace. However the interview disturbed the sleep of Congress President Rahul Gandhi, who later said that the exchange was fabricated and called the journalist ‘Pliable.’ Editors Guild in response to Rahul Gandhi’s name-calling issued a statement and instead targeted BJP and AAP.
CM Yogi also reacted to the Editors Guild’s statement and proposed to rename it to Editors Guilt.
