Amazon To Take Down Mirzapur After Yogi Renames The City To Mishrapur

The new Indian thriller series Mirzapur that is available on Amazon is likely to be taken off air soon. The story which is based on the life of two brothers from Mirzapur who are caught up in the world of drugs and violence. The show garnered some controversy after the Chief Minister of UP, Yogi Adityanath renamed the city Mirzapur to Mishrapur.

If sources are to be believed, the Director, Producers and the sponsors of Mirzapur demonstrated resistance on the renaming of the city, but to no avail.

“A lot of money has been invested in making the series and taking it off air will cause a huge loss to the sponsors and associated brands, hence we have decided to re-upload the same after making the concerned changes. We shall re-shoot the parts involving scenes where we show Mirzapur,” said the director Gurmeet Singh.

This is not the first time that the name changing nuisance under UP government has interfered with common people. Recently after Allahabad was renamed to Prayagraj, the authorities at the Allahabad Bank were forced to deliberate on renaming themselves to ‘Prayagraj Bank’, thus causing massive confusion among customers.
