The second season of Humorously Yours was released recently and it has received a great response from the audience. The show is a mirror of stand-up comedian Vipul Goyal’s life and his off stage persona. The popularity of show is not just helping Vipul Goyal reach new heights of stardom but also helping singer Devang Patel to come back to limelight.
Devang Patel was the parody king of the late 90s and early 2000s, with some of his numbers like “Kuttha Kaata”, “Bhaiya Bhaiya”, “Bhajiya Garam” and many others received well by the audience. He was the seen as the face of Parody songs in India. But shockingly as and when the rise of comedy and parody happened in India, Devang’s name was missing from the list of people doing well through parody and comedy.
But thanks to Vipul Goyal’s web series, Devang is back to his usual limelight. The reason being his resemblance to Vipul. And given that Devang himself is too funny as shown by many of his songs, people in Ahmedabad are sure that it is Devang who has acted in Humorously Yours.
Devang spoke to The Fauxy reporter and had this to say, “I had gained popularity in the 90s, but trust me the number of visitors I have daily nowadays is unmatched. Selfies, autographs, narrations, signing amounts, I am getting everything now. Just yesterday I was planning to start work on Humorously Yours season 3 but realized that it is Vipul’s show not mine. That is the level of impact this new stardom has created in my mind.”
